Our Flashlight in this Dark World - Robert Morris

Psalms 119:105 NKJV

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet  (the next step) And a light to my path (which path to take).

1. Light eliminates darkness.

We get hurt when we stumble in the darkness.  We are walking in a dark world.  How many Christians are stumbling because they are not using their lamps? (God's Word) Light and darkness do not fight against each other. Light eliminates darkness.

John 3:20 NKJV
20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.

If you're caught in darkness, you need to read the Bible to escape it.  Film is developed in the darkness. It ruins if exposed to the light.   If there is dark images in your mind, expose it to the light, and it will disappear.

Luke 11:33-36 NKJV

33 “No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a secret place or under a basket, but on a lampstand, that those who come in may see the light.

34 The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is good, your whole body also is full of light. But when your eye is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

35 Therefore take heed that the light which is in you is not darkness.

36 If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, the whole body will be full of light, as when the bright shining of a lamp gives you light.”

What you look at gets into your body through the eye.  Think about all the darkness our eyes see everyday.  Can you imagine if you exposed your eyes to that amount of light?

Do you want to be healed?  Do you want to be free from lust?  If you want to be free from lust, read the Bible thirty minutes a day.  Start in the book of Matthew, and watch the change in your life.

2. Light recovers lost things.

Luke 15:8-10 NKJV

“Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?

And when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’

10 Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

He's talking about losing people.  If you lose your job, read God's word.  If you lose your investment, read God's word.  Whatever you lose, read God's word.

When a child grows up, you lose control of the child.  You have to hope the child will make all the right decisions on their own.  Ask for permission to speak into your adult children's life.

God will speak to you through his word.  You soul is the mind, will, and emotion.  You make decisions based up what you think and what you feel.  The Bible divides between what you think is right and what you know is right.  Between the spirit and the soul. (Hebrews 4:12)

3. Light shows the way.

The Bible helps you to make decisions.  It talks about general and specific revelation.  General is what is marriage.  Specific is who you should marry.    If God tells you to read a Scripture, read it in this order.

(1) Praise
(2) Prayer
(3) Proclamation

Psalms 100:4 NKJV

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,And into His courts with praise.Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

1. Praise- Put praise worship on.

2. Prayer -  Pray about what you need to pray about.  Write out your prayers.

3. Proclaim - read God's Word about the subject matter.  It has to fit with the rest of the Bible.

The Old Testament has Allegorical principles.

The New Testament has Applicable  principles.

My daughter was given this phrase about going to Oral Roberts University.

"I'm going to give you a revelation that on the fourth (4)will be the first  (1)of many new things for you!"

Revelation +4+1=

Revelation 4:1 NKJV

After these things I looked, and behold, a door standing open in heaven. And the first voice which I heard was like a trumpet speaking with me, saying, “Come up here, and I will show you things which must take place after this.”

Dominion

Luke 4:6 New King James Version (NKJV)

And the devil said to Him (Jesus),

“All this authority I will give You, and their glory;

for this has been delivered to me,

and I give it to whomever I wish.

Who gave the dominion of the earth to Satan?
It was Adam and Eve because God had given it to them.

Genesis 1:28 New King James Version (NKJV)

28 Then God blessed them,

and God said to them, “

Be fruitful and multiply;

fill the earth and subdue it;

have dominion over the fish of the sea,
 over the birds of the air,

and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Adam and Eve gave it over to Satan when they sinned.

After Jesus's resurrection, He got our dominion back!

Matthew 28:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying,

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

We don't have to wait for Jesus to get his authority over the earth back.

He got it back after His resurrection.

Before the cross, Jesus told his followers.

John 14:1-2 New King James Version (NKJV)

14 “Let not your heart be troubled;

you believe in God,

believe also in Me.

In My Father’s house are many mansions (dwelling places) ;

if it were not so,I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

I want you to look at the context of these words.

In a moment, he's about to be delivered up for trial, then die on a cross, then be resurrected, and then ascend into heaven.

Is He saying that you can't have a relationship with the Father yet?

He is saying that I have go and take care of something.

He's about to talk about two subjects which are the Holy Spirit and peace.

John 14:25-26 New King James Version (NKJV)

25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you.

26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name,

He will teach you all things,

and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Jesus begins to talk about His death, burial, and resurrection.

Then, He says.

27 Peace I leave with you,
My peace I give to you;
not as the world gives do I give to you.

Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 You have heard Me say to you,

I am going away and coming back to you.’

If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I said,

‘I am going to the Father,’
for My Father is greater than I.

29 “And now I have told you before it comes,

that when it does come to pass, you may believe.

Since Jesus mentioned that it will come to pass, we know that Jesus was talking about seeing him after his resurrection.

He was not talking about His second coming.

No one will have a problem believing after the second coming.

Not even the atheist.

Philippians 2:10 New King James Version (NKJV)

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

John 16:16 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 A little while

and you will not see Me; and again a little while

and you will see Me,

because I go to the Father.

Jesus is not talking about thousands of years from when He said this.

The little while is right after His resurrection.

John 16:17-20 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 Then some of His disciples said among themselves,
“What is this that He says to us,

‘A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’;

and, ‘because I go to the Father’?”
18 They said therefore,

“What is this that He says,

‘A little while’

We do not know what He is saying.”

19 Now Jesus knew that they desired to ask Him, and He said to them,

“Are you inquiring among yourselves about what I said,
‘A little while, and you will not see Me;
and again a little while, and you will see Me’?

20 Most assuredly,

I say to you that you will weep and lament,

but the world will rejoice;

and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

The disciples didn't weep and lament after Jesus ascended into heaven, but they did weep after He was crucified.

The world rejoiced when He was crucified.

Not when he ascended.

John 16:21-22 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come;

but as soon as she has given birth to the child,

she no longer remembers the anguish, for joy that a human being has been born into the world.

22 Therefore you now have sorrow; but I will see you again (the resurrection)

 and your heart will rejoice, and your joy no one will take from you.

Now let's turn to this event that happened after the resurrection.

John 20:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

20 Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early (morning),

while it was still dark,

and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.

John 20:11-12 New King James Version (NKJV)

11 But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping,

and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb.

12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet,

where the body of Jesus had lain.'

This is a picture of the Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament with two angels and God in the middle.

John 20:13-14 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 Then they said to her,

“Woman, why are you weeping?”
She said to them,

“Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”

14 Now when she had said this,
 she turned around and saw Jesus standing there,
and did not know that it was Jesus.

Mary did not recognize Jesus.

That was strange because Mary had traveled with Jesus for two years during His ministry.  (Luke 8:2)

She helped take Jesus's body off the cross, so she would have recognized His badly beaten body. (Luke 23:55)

John 20:15 New King James Version (NKJV)

15 Jesus said to her,

“Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?”

She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him,

“Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him,

and I will take Him away.”

This is even more strange.

She didn't recognize Jesus's voice either.

She supposed Him to be the gardener.

Gardeners are covered in dirt from working in their gardens.

They are filthy.

Remember that Jesus became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Did this process make Him filthy in appearance?

John 20:16 New King James Version (NKJV)

16 Jesus said to her,

“Mary!”

She turned and said to Him,

“Rabboni!”

(which is to say, Teacher).

Jesus must have opened her eyes or something.

17 Jesus said to her,
“Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet

 ascended to My Father;

but go to My brethren and say to them,

‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father,

and to My God and your God.’ ”

Jesus is not talking about ascending 40 days later.

When Jesus said I am ascending, He's taking present tense.

He was ascending right then!

John 20:19 New King James Version (NKJV)

19 Then, the same day at evening,

being the first day of the week,

when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled,

for fear of the Jews,

Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, Peace be with you.”

Jesus appeared to His disciples on that same day at evening.

Where's He been?

He had just told Mary.

He ascended to our Father that day.

John 20:20 New King James Version (NKJV)

20 When He had said this,

He showed them His hands and His side.

Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

On the morning of the resurrection, Jesus told Mary not to touch him.

He spent the day with His Father.

On the evening after that same day, He invited His disciples the opportunity of touching Him.

John 20:21-22 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you!
As the Father has sent Me,
I also send you.”

22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them,

“Receive the Holy Spirit.

Jesus had been with the Father all day.
When He saw Mary previously, Jesus asked not to be clung to yet because He was going to the Father.

There He presented Himself to God the Father as Mankind's sin offering.

Then, His disciples could touch Him.

Hebrews 9:12 New King James Version (NKJV)

12 Not with the blood of goats and calves,
but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all,

having obtained eternal redemption.

Ephesians 4:9-10 New King James Version (NKJV)

(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean
but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens,

that He might fill all things.)

During the three days that Jesus was in the grave,
He descended into Hades,

and took back mankind's dominion that was taken from Adam and Even

when Satan deceived them.

Ephesians 4:8 New King James Version (NKJV)

Therefore He says:
“When He ascended on high,

He led captivity captive,

And gave gifts to men.”

There Jesus lead the Old Testament saints to heaven who were held in Hades by Satan.  (Luke 16:19-13)

They were in a place of waiting.

On His way to Heaven from Hades, He stopped by to speak to Mary.

While Jesus was talking to Mary, the Old Testament Saints walked around Jerusalem for a while.

Matthew 27:52-53 New King James Version (NKJV)

52 and the graves were opened;

and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection,

they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

Jesus isn't getting dominion back one day.
He already got it back.
Jesus had previous said...

John 12:31 New King James Version (NKJV)

31 Now is the judgment of this world;

now the ruler of this world will be cast out.
Not in 2,000 years.  Now!

Daniel 7:9-11 New King James Version (NKJV)

“I watched till thrones were put in place,

And the Ancient of Days (God our Father) was seated;

His garment was white as snow,

And the hair of His head was like pure wool.

His throne was a fiery flame,

Its wheels a burning fire;

10 A fiery stream issued
And came forth from before Him.

A thousand thousands ministered to Him;

Ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him.

The court was seated,
And the books were opened.

In Daniel, there were four beast (Daniel 7).

On the day of the resurrection, sin was slain.

Romans 6:14 New King James Version (NKJV)

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you,
for you are not under law but under grace.

Daniel 7:12 New King James Version (NKJV)

12 As for the rest of the beasts, they had their dominion taken away,

yet their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

Satan has no more dominion over you.

He's been lying to you.

His power has been taken away.

Daniel 7:13 New King James Version (NKJV)

13 “I was watching in the night visions,

And behold,

One like the Son of Man,
(Jesus) Coming with the clouds of heaven (The Old Testament Saints)!

He came to the Ancient of Days (God our Father) ,

And they brought Him near before Him.

In Hebrews 12:1, the Bible refers to the Old Testament saints as a cloud of witnesses.

Hebrews 12:1 New King James Version (NKJV)

12 Therefore we also,

 since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which so easily ensnares us,

and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.

Daniel 7:14 New King James Version (NKJV)

14 Then to Him (Jesus) was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.

His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,

And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed.

That happened 2,000 years ago.

When Jesus told Mary, don't touch me.

Jesus hadn't gone into the most holy place yet, and offered myself.

Daniel 7:21-22 New King James Version (NKJV)

21 “I was watching;
and the same horn was making war against the saints,
and prevailing against them,
22 until the Ancient of Days (God our Father) came,
and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High,
and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom.

2000 years ago the Ancient of Days walked in.

The judge.

He looked at Satan on one side, and the saints on the other side.

Then, He looked at the bloody, beaten, bruised,  body of His Son.

He said Satan you lose.

Saints you win.

That's what happened on Easter.

I'm telling you Satan doesn't have anymore dominion over you.

The way Jesus gets dominion is when someone gives it to Him.

Satan tries to deceive you into thinking you're not good enough.

Satan tries to get us to believe a lie, and when we do.

We give him our dominion.

I'm asking you to stand in Jesus name, and take back Satan's dominion over you.

You want to give your life to God?

You can have victory.

Your sin has been paid in full.

Do you need to give your life back to God?

Tell Jesus, I give my life back to you to be my Lord and Savior.

You're the only one who can save me.

You're the only one who can.
