The Tabernacle Prayer of Moses

There are different kinds of prayer. Ephesians 6:18 talks about it...

Ephesians 6:18 (GW) Pray in the Spirit in every situation.

Use every kind of prayer and request there is. For the same reason be alert.

Use every kind of effort and make every kind of request for all of God’s people.

There is a protocol into the presence of God.

In Moses' day, Moses set up a portable temple which was called a Tabernacle.

It had different stations that the priest would pass.

Today, we are God's tabernacle where worship occurs.

We are God's Holy Place.

Although Moses' Tabernacle no longer exists, its meaning still lives on today in You!

Here are the Scriptures that back this up.

Exodus 25:8-9 (NLT) “Have the people of Israel build me a holy sanctuary so I can live among them.

You must build this Tabernacle and its furnishings exactly according to the pattern I will show you.

Exodus 33:11 (NLT) Inside the Tent of Meeting, the Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.

Afterward Moses would return to the camp, but the young man who assisted him, Joshua son of Nun, would remain behind in the Tent of Meeting.

Matthew 5:17(NLT)   “Don’t misunderstand why I have come.

I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets.

No, I came to accomplish their purpose.

Here are the stations from Moses' Tabernacle which priests entered into God's presence.

1. The Outer Court: Give God Thanks

We enter the tabernacle with praise and thanks.

Everyday think of a fresh reason to thank God.

Today is a "new" day.

Thank Him for today.

Don't be in a hurry to ask God for anything.

Look around and thank Him for want he has done already.

Thank Him for saving you!

Psalm 100:4 (NLT) Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.

Give thanks to him and praise his name.

2. The Brazen Altar: Focus on the Cross

In Moses' Tabernacle, this is the place where animals were slaughtered.

We have to come through Jesus and His death for us to enter God's presence.

Visualize Jesus on the cross, and thank God for Jesus.

Romans 5:6 (NLT) 6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.

Isaiah 53:5 (NLT) But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins.

He was beaten so we could be whole.

He was whipped so we could be healed.

3. The Laver: Offer every part of your life.

Give your mind to God to think on Scripture.

Your tongue to speak His truth.

Your ears to listen to others.

Your best worship is to give yourself to God.

Romans 12:1(NLT) And so, dear brothers and sisters,I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you.

Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

4. The Candlestick: Invite the work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Ask God to stir up His Spirit in every area of your life...

to be a better father,

spouse,

or employer.

2 Timothy 1:6-7 (NLT)   This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

5. The Table of Shewbread: Claim the promises in God's Word.

We are walking and praying ourselves into the presence of God.

Here's where you need to read the Bible.

You need to eat everyday.

You also need to feed spiritually on God's Word daily.

Matthew 4:4(NLT)  But Jesus told him, “No! The Scriptures say,‘People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

God's Word is an offensive weapon for the day.

We don't focus on getting to heaven, but to change our world to be like Heaven.

We don't wait for trouble.

We pray first before trouble comes, but it will come.

Ephesians 6:10-18 (NLT) A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil...

6.  The Altar of Incense: Worship His Name.

The last object in the Tabernacle was used for worship.

It offered incense to God.

We thank God for what He has done,

but praise Him for who He is.

Here we brag on God to God.

Psalm 95:6-7(NLT) Come, let us worship and bow down.

Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God.

We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.

If only you would listen to his voice today!

Proverbs 18:10 (NLT) The name of the Lord is a strong fortress; the godly run to him and are safe.

7. The Ark of the Covenant: Intercede for others.

We speak to God for people.

We represent them like an attorney.

We speak to people for God.

1 Timothy 2:1-2(NLT)  I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people.

Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.

Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

Prayer should be our first response not our last resort.
