Dream Again

(John 11:25) Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.”

(Revelation 1:18 NKJV) “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”

DREAM KILLERS

(Genesis 15:1-5) After this, the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your very great reward.” But Abram said, “O Sovereign Lord, what can you give me since I remain childless and the one who will inherit my estate is Eliezer of Damascus?” And Abram said, “You have given me no children; so a servant in my household will be my heir.” Then the word of the Lord came to him: “This man will not be your heir, but a son coming from your own body will be your heir.” He took him outside and said, “Look up at the heavens and count the stars – if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”

(Genesis 17:1-4) “As for me, this is my covenant with you: You will be the father of many nations.’”

 Unfulfilled expectations.

(Genesis 16:1) Now Sarai, Abrams wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian maidservant named Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my maidservant; perhaps I can build a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai said.

 Unrelenting doubt.

(Genesis 17:17) Abraham fell facedown; he laughed and said to himself, “Will a son be born to a man a hundred years old? Will Sarah bear a child at the age of ninety?”

 Unchangeable circumstances.

(Genesis 18:11) “Abraham and Sarah were already old and well advanced in years, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing.”

DREAM AGAIN

1. Even if it takes a long time.

(Genesis 21:5) “Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.”

(Proverbs 16:9) “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”

2. Even if it sounds ridiculous.

(Genesis 22:2) Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about.”

(Isaiah 55:8-9) “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

3. Even if you don’t think you can.

(Genesis 22:15-18) The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore.  Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
