Enjoying Prayer

(2 Timothy 1:16 TLB) “May the Lord bless Onesiphorus and all his family because he visited me and encouraged me often. His visits revived me like a breath of fresh air.”

THE DOLDRUMS

 When we’ve drifted away.

 When we’ve neglected the basics.

 When we’ve lost our purpose.

ENJOYING PRAYER

(Luke 11:1) “One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray…’”

(Matthew 6:9-13) “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.”

1. Connect with God relationally.

(Romans 8:15 NLT) You have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”

2. Run to His Name.

(Proverbs 18:10 MSG) “God's name is a place of protection—the righteous can run there and be safe.”

3. Pray His agenda first.

(Matthew 6:33) “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

4. Depend on Him for everything.

(Psalm 121:1-2 NLT) “I look up to the mountains—does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth!”

5. Keep your heart right with God and people.

(Romans 12:21 NLT) “Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”

6. Take your stand against the enemy.

(Ephesians 6:10-11, 18) “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers…”

7. Have faith in God’s ability.

(1 John 5:14-15) “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.”
