(Romans 12:10) Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one
another above yourselves.
HOW DO WE HONOR?
1. Prioritize it.
Whatever is first is honored.
(Proverbs 3:9) Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the
first fruits of all your crops.
(Proverbs 3:9 MSG) Honor GOD with everything you own; give him
the first and the best.
2. Praise it.
Our words either honor or dishonor.
(James 3:9-10) With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father,
and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.
Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this
should not be.
(Ephesians 4:29-30) Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of
your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up
according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And
do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God.
3. Protect it.
The more you value it, the more you
value from it.
(John 7:18) He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for
himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is
a man of truth; there is nothing false about him.
VESSELS OF HONOR
(2 Timothy 2:20-21 NKJV) But in a great house there are not only
vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor
and some for dishonor.
Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the
latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master,
prepared for every good work.
(Proverbs 15:33) The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and
humility comes before honor.
(Proverbs 18:12) Before his downfall a man's heart is proud, but humility
comes before honor.
(Proverbs 22:4) Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and
honor and life.
(Proverbs 29:23) A man's pride brings him low, but a man of lowly
spirit gains honor.
Humility is the key to honor.
What is the Holy Spirit saying to me?
