Value God's Voice

There is general and specific will of God as related to the voice of God.

When buying a house, choosing a job, finding a mate, we want to hear a specific word from God.

God wants to speak specific words to us.

Our problem is...

that we're trying to hear specific words of God...

at different times in our lives...

without the habit of hearing the general words of God everyday.

We need to develop the habit of hearing the general words from God to hear the specific words from God when we need it.

We need to value God's voice.

If we value something, we will allocate time for that.

How much time during your busy schedule have you allocated to hearing God's voice?

1. Set an appointment.

Read how God answered Moses by "voice." Exodus 19:10-11, 19

God comes to a prepared atmosphere.

If you want to hear God, prepare.

If you don't set an appointment, you'll miss it.

We set an appointment to met with people even people that we don't like.

But we don't set an appointment with God?

Set a time and a place.

This week set a time and a place.

Pick a time that you're at your best.

You might have to get out of the house to meet with God.

What is your best place?

Missed appointments are disappointments.

2. Be still and worship. Psalm 46:10, Exodus 14:13, 2 Chronicles 20:17,21-24

Everyone fights battles.

In your health,

in your marriage,

your family,

your finances,

your job.

Stand still and worship.

Get still before God.

Is it possible to not know that He is in our situation because we don't get still?

Ask God each day what song do you want for me to sing today?

Then, wait for God to bring a song into your mind to sing to Him.

That song will allow you to enter into the presence of God.
Acts 13:2

3. Pray and read.

Take some time to pray to the Lord, and read His word.
Mark 1:35, Psalm 119:147.

Pray about whatever is on your heart that day.

Then, read the Bible somewhere.

4. Listen and write.

Listening seems to be the hardest thing for us to do, but if we learn to do it.

We will hear God's voice.

Try reading in the NLT, NIV, or the message.

Something that is a dynamic translation rather than an exact translation because it's easier to read.

This is reading not studying. Psalm 45:1(MSG)

David said that after I write things I'd begin to understand what I was writing.
1 Chronicles 28:19

The best way that I know to learn how to hear the voice of God is to write when you're meeting with Him. Habakkuk 2:2

Write your prayers.

Write what you think God would be saying in answer to your prayers.

What do you think is God's will in the situation?

Write it down.

Write what God is saying to you through the scripture you read that day.

Write... I think that the Lord is saying this to me.

After a while, you'll be shocked at how fast God will be speaking in those scriptures.

You won't be able to keep up.

You'll have a written record over the years how God directed your life.

The Word of the Lord was valuable and precious in the days of Samuel.

It was valued.
1 Samuel 3:1

Do you really value hearing God's voice?

We make room for anything in our life that adds value.

Hearing God has a value.

Never under estimate what God can do as you wait for Him?

To hear God, you have to quiet yourself down to listen to God, and to be open to what He might say to you.

Listen to me.

God wants to speak to you.

God wants to direct your life.

You've got to give Him the opportunity.
