We all come from a broken
family. Every person is broken. We all have come from the first
broken family which was Adam and Eve. We have genetic and spiritual
DNA from them.
Every person on the earth
before the fall was in a perfect relationship with God and each other.
After the fall, all these relationships were broken.
Genesis 3:1-6 NKJV
1 Now the serpent was more
cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made.
And he said to the woman, “Has
God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the
garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the
serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 but of the fruit of the
tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it,
nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 Then the serpent said
to the woman, “You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that in the
day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing
good and evil.”
6 So when the woman saw
that the tree was good for food (lust of the flesh), that it was pleasant to
the eyes (the lust of the eyes), and a tree desirable to make one wise (the
pride of life), she took of its fruit and ate.
She also gave to her
husband with her, and he ate.
Sin started with the
questioning of the Word of God by Satan. The serpent contradicts God.
Adam was right there with her when the serpent tempted her.
I John 2:16 NKJV
16 For all that is in the
world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not
of the Father but is of the world.
1. When they sinned, they
experienced shame.
Genesis 3:7-11 NKJV
7 Then the eyes of both
of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig
leaves together and made themselves covering (shame).
8 And they heard the sound
of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam
and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees
of the garden.
9 Then the Lord God called
to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” (No one told them to hid. They were
experiencing shame.)
10 So he said, “I heard
Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid
myself.” (They
were hiding from God and each other. They were the only two living people
on the earth).
11 And He said, “Who told
you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you
that you should not eat?”
Genesis 3:21 NKJV
21 Also for Adam and his
wife the Lord God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
God made them a covering from
animal skin; therefore, the animals had to die to cover them for their shame
like His Son Jesus eventually did for us.
Revelation 3:18 NKJV
18 I counsel you to buy
from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white
garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be
revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.
Isaiah 61:10 NKJV
10 I will greatly rejoice
in the Lord,My soul shall be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me
with the garments of salvation,He has covered me with the robe of
righteousness,
As a bridegroom decks himself
with ornaments,And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
Righteousness means to be in
right standing with God. The only way to be right with God is by
accepting Jesus's death for our sins.
Romans 4:3 NKJV
3 For what does the
Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness.”
Romans 4:3 NKJV
3 For what does the
Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for
righteousness.”
When Abraham believed, righteousness
was deposited into his account because of his faith.
When Jesus died on the Cross,
he died for all mankind. Righteousness was deposited into everyone's
account, but it must be retrieved by faith like Abraham.
Mankind's sin was deposited
into Jesus's account, which He has already died for.
Satan tells you that you are
worse than anyone else. That's another one of his lies.
2. When we sin, we blame God
for our sins and others.
Genesis 3:11-13 NKJV
11 And He said, “Who told
you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you
that you should not eat?”
12 Then the man said, “The
woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate.”
13 And the Lord God said to
the woman, “What is this you have done?”The woman said, “The serpent deceived
me, and I ate.”
Adam blamed the woman, and
God who gave her to him. We'll say it's not my fault, or it's all my
fault. Both are wrong.
This leads us to blame God
and others. Don't live with blame. It comes from Satan. He accuses the
brethren. Before you accuse someone, you are accusing a family member and
acting like Satan.
Revelation 12:10 NKJV
10 Then I heard a loud
voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our
God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of
our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been
cast down.
3. Fame. It's
wanting to be recognized.
God did not curse them.
He told them about the curse that they brought upon themselves.
Genesis 3:20 NKJV
20 And Adam called his
wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living.
Eve means life. God didn't
name Eve, but Adam did. He labeled her distinct from himself.
Before the fall they were
both called Adam. Adam means mankind.
Genesis 5:2 KJV
2 Male and female created
he them; and blessed them, and called their name
Adam, in the day when they were created.
Genesis 5:2 NKJV
2 He created them male and
female, and blessed them and called them Mankind
(Adam) in the day they were
created.
Adam gave her a purpose
which is childbearing. Women's highest calling is not child birth.
Your highest calling is to be
a child. A child of God. If you do this, you will be a good parent.
When your child grows up, you
still have your purpose which is to be a child of God.
It became a competition after
the fall of mankind. You can see a spirit of competition in the
family. That's why Cain killed Abel.
People eventually rebel about
being in a family. They want to be an individual.
What's the answer?
Jesus Christ.
Acts 3:25 NKJV
25 You are sons of the
prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to
Abraham, ‘And in your seed (Jesus) all the families of the earth shall be
blessed.’
Jesus, please come into my
life
and be my Lord and
Savior.
I give to you my past
and my
future. Be the center
of my
life.
