Do you struggle to admit when you are wrong? Pride prevents intimacy with God and others.
The most insecure people are proud. Prideful people have open wounds. It's hard to get close to them.
Humility draws the Spirit of God into your life.
Uzziah became king at the age of 16. As long as he sought the Lord, God gave him success, but pride lead to his downfall.
He went into the temple illegally, and God gave him leprosy. Pray that you'll finish strong without pride unlike Uzziah. (2 Chronicles 26)
Always live with the end in mind because you know that the end will come.
John the Baptist said that the Messiah must increase and I must decrease (John 3:30). I'm not fit to carry his shoes (Matthew 3:11).
You can't fall when you are on your face before God. Always check your own heart for pride.
1. Humility keeps us from being deceived.
If your deceived, you don't know your deceived. Pride keeps you from seeing it.
Some of you don't know how amazing the grace of God is because you are proud. He opposes the proud (James 4:6). Love is not blind. Pride is blind.
1 Timothy 4 (NIV)
1 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (NIV)
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
2 People will be lovers of themselves,
lovers of money,
boastful, proud,
abusive,
disobedient to their parents,
ungrateful,
unholy,
3 without love,
unforgiving,
slanderous,
without self-control,
brutal,
not lovers of the good,
4 treacherous,
rash,
conceited,
lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God
5 having a form of godliness
,but denying its power.
Have nothing to do with such people.
Obadiah 3:1A (NIV)
3 The pride of your heart has deceived you,
If your prideful, you have a need to be noticed by others. The humble notices needs.
2. Humility keeps us growing in Christ.
Pride keeps us from asking for help. Pride creates the most lonely life. Humble people have incredible relationships.
James 5:16 A (NIV)
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.
We are forgiven when we confess our sins to God. We must confess to each other to be healed.
You won't fall if you'll keep confessing your sins to God and being authentic with others.
Allow people to tell you of your deficiencies.
The Lord speaks in a still small voice. Because you have to be in close proximity to hear Him talk.
3. Humility makes close relationships.
A. Admit when you are wrong. First find humility and then comes honor (Proverbs 18:12).
B. Be a giver of grace. People resist forgiving because they have never been forgiven.
Trust and forgiveness are two different subjects. You may never trust them again, but you can forgive them at once.
C. Always run back to your first love with God. Are you at the peak of your walk with God?
Call a family meeting.
Be real.
Admit to pride.
Ask will you forgive me?
Admit what's true about you.
Forgive others, too.
Let someone off the hook.
Tell Jesus.
Forgive me for my pride, and making it all about me.
