Knowing that we're here for a specific reason drives us to pray with a specific purpose.
Philippians 4:6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
6 Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God.
Specific prayers move God for specific action. Jesus taught us to pray for specific things.
Matthew 9:38 Amplified Bible (AMP)
38 So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Philippians 1:9-11 Amplified Bible (AMP)
9 And this I (Paul) pray, that your love may abound more and more [displaying itself in greater depth] in real knowledge and in practical insight,
10 so that you may learn to recognize and treasure what is excellent [identifying the best, and distinguishing moral differences], and that you may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ [actually living lives that lead others away from sin];
11 filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God [so that His glory may be both revealed and recognized].
We must get specific in our prayers. When we pray specifically, we get to know God in a renewed and fresh way.
