Spiritual Dryness

Have you ever gone through a season of spiritual dryness?  Has it gone on for days, months, or years?

Do you have a comprehension of God's holiness?  Refreshing comes from a fresh vision of God.

Sometimes when we see God, it scare us.  Not because we see God, but because we finally see ourselves.

Job 42:5-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear,
But now my eye sees You.
6 Therefore I abhor myself,
And repent in dust and ashes.”

When you clearly see God's loving kindness and forgiveness of our past, that's when our hearts erupt with praise.

Psalm 103:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,

When we see God, we are inspired to worship and praise Him because we are reminded that God is Love.  (1 John 4:8).

Loving kindness is God's character. God is a loyal, faithful, and covenant keeping God. Genesis 19:19, Zechariah 7:9

Zechariah 7:9 New King James Version (NKJV)
“Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Execute true justice,
Show mercy and compassion
Everyone to his brother.

God's tender mercies reminds us of his kind emotions for us.  Jeremiah 31:3.

Jeremiah 31:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying:
Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.

Ephesians 1:4-6 New King James Version (NKJV)
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love,
having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself,according to the good pleasure of His will,
to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

Jeremiah 9:24 New King James Version (NKJV)
24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising loving kindness,judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

Deuteronomy 7:9 New King James Version (NKJV)
“Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

Psalm 63:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Because Your loving kindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.

When's the last time that you spent time thinking about how much God loves you.
Not only does God love you, but God's love acts.

Psalm 103:1-4 New King James Version (NKJV)
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!

Bless the Lord, O my soul,And forget not all His benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies,

When you realize that God forgives all your sins, it does something to your soul.

When David refers to healing, he is referring to the healing of the soul.

Death is a consequence of the fall in the Garden of Eden that includes the symptoms of death which includes sickness. Death is not a end, but a transition.  God heals all ultimately.

Redeem means to buy back like Boaz did it for Ruth.  Have you thought what it means to be set free in Christ?

God is love.  God's love acts.  God forgives, heals, and redeems.

God literally set a crown on David's head.  One day we too will be crowned by Jesus and worship Him as we set them before Him.

When you see God, you are impacted in practical ways.

1. We are motivated to forgive.

2. We are motivated to minister to others.

3. We are motivated to reach out to others.

2 Samuel 9:3 New King James Version (NKJV)
Then the king said, “Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, to whom I may show the kindness of God?”
And Ziba said to the king, “There is still a son of Jonathan who is lame in his feet.”

Psalm 63:3-5 New King James Version (NKJV)
Because Your loving kindness is better than life,
My lips shall praise You.

4 Thus I will bless You while I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
And my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.

If your soul is dry, get a fresh vision of God, and remember what God has done for you. Is your life an act of grace?  Do you really love Jesus Christ?

Pray Lord Jesus, I give to you my past.  I receive your love.  Be my Lord and Savior.
