The Spirit Powered Life

Are you enjoying your life or is it a burden?  Jesus talks about a joyful life that can be lived out right now.

John 3:3-8 ESV

3 Jesus answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."

4 Nicodemus said to him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?"

5 Jesus answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not marvel that I said to you, 'You must be born again.'

8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit."

If you find the wind of the Holy Spirit, He does all the work like the wind in the sails of a sail boat.  It is a relaxed life.

Are you rowing in your own strength or sailing with Holy Spirit?

Jesus created us to be like a sail boat and not a row boat.  It's about positioning ourselves in the wind of His Spirit.

Matthew 11:29 (NLT)
Jesus said... 29 Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

1. Is your relationship with God centered on shame and condemnation?

Satan tries to get us to think that our relationship is based upon performance.

Romans 8:1-2 NLT

1 So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. 2 And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.

2. Is your life marked by worry?

In our society, worry is talked about like a good thing. God wants us to be focused upon Him and not our problems.

Matthew 6:31-34 NLT

Jesus taught... 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’

32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.

33 Seek the Kingdom of God#6:33 Some manuscripts do not include of God. above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Satan tries to get us to be worried about tomorrow.  God only gives us the grace for today.

3. Are you intimidated by fear?

Fear is not an attribute, but a demonic spirit. Do not look on the things of fear, but keep them on Jesus.

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Keys to Sailing with Holy Spirit:

1. Talk to Him—regularly!
2. Pray in the Spirit.
3. Make decisions in faith.
4. Keep your head up. Relax.

Ask the Holy Spirit. What are you saying to me through this message?
