A Dream that God Honors


Proverbs 29:18 (MSG)
18 If people can’t see what God is doing,
    they stumble all over themselves;
But when they attend to what he reveals,
    they are most blessed.




1. Dreams are the language of God. 



Acts 2:17 (NLT)
17 ‘In the last days,’ God says,
    ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
    Your young men will see visions,
    and your old men will dream dreams.




2. Dreams are the target of your faith. 
You have to have a target of hopes and dreams before your faith can take action. 




Hebrews 11:1 (NET Bible) Now faith is being sure of what we hope for, being convinced of what we do not see.



3. Dreams have a habit of coming true. 



Luke 1:37 (NIV)
37 For no word from God will ever fail.”



What stops us from dreaming?


1. A wrong view of life.  

Stand on God's Word.  Don't be nervous about what is going on in the World.

Light shines best on darkness. Keep loving people.  Laws don't change people's lives anyway.  

Get your eye on something bigger than your problems.


2.  A wrong view of self.  

Read Psalm 35.  God sees greatness in you and can pull you out of anything.

See yourself the way God sees you.  You are not who you are.  You are who God says you are. 


3.  A wrong view of God.  


Jeremiah 32:17  (NIV)
17 “Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you.




What is a God honoring dream?


1.  A God dream will seem risky.


Hebrews 11:6 (NIV)
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.


2. A God dream will require God's involvement.  


Ephesians 3:20  (NIV)
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,


3. A God dream will change lives.  


Ephesians 1:11-12 (MSG)
11-12 It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
