Habakkuk 1:5 (NIV)
“Look
at the nations and watch—
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something in your days
that you would not believe,
even if you were told.
Habakkuk 2:1-2 (GNT)
2 I will climb my
watchtower and wait to see what the Lord will
tell me to say and what answer he will give to my complaint.
2 The Lord gave
me this answer: “Write down clearly on tablets what I reveal to you, so that it
can be read at a glance.
5 Steps to Hear from God
1. Withdraw- Get alone with God.
Luke 5:16 (GNT)
16 But
he (Jesus) would go away to lonely places, where he prayed.
2. Wait. Don't get in a hurry in prayer. Hurry is
the enemy of prayer.
Psalm 46:10 A (NIV)
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
Psalm 62:5 (NIV)
5 Yes, my soul, find rest in
God;
my
hope comes from him.
my hope comes from him.
3. Read God's Word. Stop listening for a voice and
look for a verse.
4. Write it down. When God speaks to you, write it down.
5. Review your dreams. What are you seeing
now? Let your heart eyes see.
Ephesians 1:17-18 (NIV)
17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the
glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of
wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order
that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of
his glorious inheritance in his holy people,
2 Kings 3:9-14 (NIV)
9 So the king of Israel set out with the king of Judah and the
king of Edom. After a roundabout march of seven days, the army had no more
water for themselves or for the animals with them.
10 “What!” exclaimed the king of Israel. “Has the Lord called
us three kings together only to deliver us into the hands of Moab?”
11 But Jehoshaphat asked, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here,
through whom we may inquire of the Lord?”
An officer of the king of Israel answered, “Elisha son
of Shaphat is here. He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
12 Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is
with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down
to him.
13 Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Why do you want to
involve me? Go to the prophets of your father and the prophets of your mother.”
“No,” the king of Israel answered, “because it was the Lord who
called us three kings together to deliver us into the hands of Moab.”
14 Elisha
said, “As surely as the Lord Almighty
lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat
king of Judah, I would not pay any attention to you.
How to Hear from God
1. Dreams are birthed in God's presence.
2 Kings 3:15 (NIV)
15 But now bring me a harpist.”
While
the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha.
2. Dreams go from inspiration to participation.
2 Kings 3:16 (NIV)
16 and
he said, “This is what the Lord says:
I will fill this valley with pools of water.
The pools had to be dug with human hands, so God could fill them with the rains of heaven.
3. Dreams continue regardless of what is seen. Don't
give up on the dream God has given you.
2 Kings 3:17-18 (NIV)
17 For this is what the Lord says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this
valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other
animals will drink. 18 This is an easy thing in the eyes of the Lord; he will also deliver Moab
into your hands.
