How to Find my Purpose

The church does not exist for us. We are the church, and we exist for the world.

(Matthew 5:14-16 TLB) You are the world’s light—a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.

Who Me?

(Isaiah 60:1-3) “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.

I am a Minister, which is a nursing term.  To bring aid to a hurting people
...

(1 Peter 2:9) But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

I have a specific purpose

... You're not one of a million.  You are one of a kind.

(Ephesians 2:10) For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

You are born for an opportune time

... God created you for windows of opportunity for today.

(Ephesians 5:15-16) Be very careful, then, how you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

You are to make an eternal difference.

(1 Corinthians 3:12-13) If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light.

How to Find My Ministry

(Ephesians 4:11-12 NLT) Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

1. My gifts and passions help me to determine my purpose.

(Romans 12:6-8) We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

2.My life experiences help me to determine my purpose.

(Romans 12:1 MSG) So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.

3.My pain helps me to determine my purpose.

(2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT) All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.
