Forgiveness is a debt, and a debt is something that has been taken from you. You may say that someone owes you an apology, but to forgive is a gift.
Forgiveness does not make sense as long as you do not understand the forgiveness provided to you by God through Christ.
1. Identify who you are angry with.
2. Determine what was taken from you.
3. Decide to cancel that debt without being asked.
4. Use 3 by 5 cards by jotting down what people owe you.
5. Do something to signify the debt is cancelled.
6. When painful thoughts come back, say no to them because that debt is cancelled.
7. Then, focus on the debt that was cancelled for you.
8. An apology from that person will not payback what was taken from you. Neither can we pay God back.
If I continually serve myself, I eventually will be by myself. When we decide to serve, we break the hold of selfishness.
