Rich is having more than you
need.
1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NIV)
17 Command those who are rich in this present world not to
be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to
put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our
enjoyment.18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good
deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In
this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for
the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
1. We are not saved by good works, but we are
saved for Good works.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (NIV)
8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through
faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not
by works, so that no one can boast. 10 For we are God’s
handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which
God prepared in advance for us to do.
2. You are created to do God's divine to do list.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill
cannot be hidden.15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under
a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the
house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your
Father in heaven.
Acts 10:38 (NIV)
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit
and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were
under the power of the devil, because God was with him.
Matthew 5:41 (NIV)
41 If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
3. We are to go the second mile for others.
A. Pay God's blessing forward.
B. Buy someone's meal.
c. Send an encouragement
note.
D. Send thank you flowers.
Acts 4:32-35 (NIV)
32 All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed
that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they
had.33 With great power the apostles continued to testify to
the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully
at work in them all 34 that there were no needy persons among
them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold
them, brought the money from the sales 35 and put it at
the apostles’ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
To take care of someone's need,
but not to point them to Jesus, would be like giving someone a piece of heaven
with out telling how to get there and that would be cruel.
