The Holy Spirit Helps

John 14:16-17 (NKJV) 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper

that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth,

whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him;

but you know Him,

for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 3:8 (NKJV) The wind blows where it wishes,

and you hear the sound of it,

but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes.
So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Jesus taught that another Helper (the first Helper was Jesus) would come to be in us.

Although we can’t see the 2nd Helper (the Holy Spirit),

Jesus taught that we can perceive Him by what He does (like the wind).John 14: 22-23 (NKJV) Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him,

Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;

and My Father will love him,

and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

John 16:13 (HCSB) When the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth.

For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears.

He will also declare to you what is to come.

We CAN progressively KNOW the 2nd Helper (the Holy Spirit) by obeying Christ's directions THROUGH Him.

As we follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance, we are given more direction;

however, if we don’t obey, He remains silent in our lives.

I John 2:17 (ESV) But the anointing that you received from him abides in you,

and you have no need that anyone should teach you.

But as his anointing teaches you about everything,

and is true,

and is no lie

—just as it has taught you, abide in him.Matthew 23:8-10 (MSG) Jesus speaking…

"Don't let people do that to you, put you on a pedestal like that.

You all have a single Teacher, and you are all classmates.

Don't set people up as experts over your life, letting them tell you what to do.

Save that authority for God; let him tell you what to do.

No one else should carry the title of 'Father'; you have only one Father, and he's in heaven.

And don't let people maneuver you into taking charge of them.

There is only one Life-Leader for you and them—Christ.

Jesus did NOT teach that we were to disciple new Christians like He did to be OUR followers.

TRUE discipleship is the work of the second comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Luke 17:3 (NIV) Jesus speaking… So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. If he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times comes back to you and says, 'I repent,' forgive him."

I John 1:9-10 (HCSB) If we confess our sins (to God),

He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say, "We have not sinned," we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Jesus did NOT teach that we are to confess our sins to people that we have not sinned against

however, we ARE to confess directly to GOD.

If we sin against people, then we ARE to confess to those people that we have sinned against.

Matthew 5:19 (NET) So anyone who breaks one of the least of these commands and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever obeys them and teaches others to do so will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

2 Timothy 2:2 (NET) And entrust what you heard me say in the presence of many others as witnesses to faithful people who will be competent to teach others as well.

Matthew 7:5 (NET) …First remove the beam from your own eye

and then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye
.

AFTER a person has learned how to implement a command

THEN
God expects us to help others in these areas.

To attempt to instruct others BEFORE we implement it, this is being a hypocrite.

John 16:13 (HCSB) When the Spirit of truth comes,

He
will guide you into all the truth.

For He will not speak on His own, but He will speak whatever He hears. He will also declare to you what is to come.

2 Corinthians 3: 17 (HCSB) Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Matthew 28:19-20 (HCSB) Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.

And
remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

The 2nd Helper, the Holy Spirit, disciples on behalf of the 1st Helper, Jesus.

HINT: If anyone tries to make you THEIR disciple, THEY are leading YOU into error.
