(Psalm 1:1-3) Blessed is the one who does not walk in step
with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of
mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his
law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they
do prospers.
1. As I put God first.
(Proverbs 3:9-10) Honor the LORD with your
wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled
to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
2. As I maintain my
integrity.
(Psalm 84:11) For the LORD God is a sun and
shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from
those whose walk is blameless.
3. As I give intentionally.
(2 Corinthians 9:10-11) Now he who supplies
seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store
of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made
rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us
your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.
4. As I give generously.
(Luke 6:38) Give, and it will be given to you.
A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured
into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
5. As I stay dependent on God.
(1 Timothy 6:17) Command those who are rich in
this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is
so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with
everything for our enjoyment.
The greatest deterrent to radical generosity is
the illusion that earth is our home.
