We Have An Enemy

Galatians 5:1  (NIV)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.

Luke 4:18  (NIV)

 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me (Jesus),
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,

We have an enemy and oppressor.

His name is Satan or the devil.  

He works harder at trying to enslave us and destroy us than we work to keep him out.  

1 Peter 5:8  (NIV)

8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

He is the father of lies (John 8:44).

Deception is his strategy. 

A lie is his tool.  

He creates a stronghold by deception to put us in bondage.  

Something that is not true appears true. 

We think that we are in bondage to a sin; however, it is a lie created by Satan in our minds. 

The truth is that if we have surrendered our lives to Christ we are free from bondage to sin.

John 8:36  (NIV)

36 So if the Son (Jesus) sets you free, you will be free indeed.

We remove lies with Scripture (the Bible).  

We must learn to pray using Scripture, and pray in first person for example.

Jesus has set me free.  I am really free from __________ (Whatever is your ungodly habit)!

We must not see people as our enemy, but Satan working through them to put us into bondage to resentment, anger, and bitterness.  

Hurting people hurt people and we must see them through that lens.  

When people hurt us, let's forgive them, love them, and pray for them.   

Let's see it at a opportunity to pray for them to be released from the devil's evil influence.
