(Matthew 4:18-19) And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee,
saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net
into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I
will make you fishers of men.”
Fishing Wisdom
(Proverbs 11:30) The fruit of the righteous is a
tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise.
(Colossians 4:5-6) Be wise in the way you act
toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be
always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer
everyone.
1. Take advantage of Divine
Appointments.
(Psalm 37:23 KJV) The steps of a good man are
ordered by the LORD.
(Proverbs 16:9) In his heart a man plans his
course, but the LORD determines his steps.
✓ Be intentional in relationships.
✓ Find their spiritual spot
(the place where they're most open).
✓Add value to them by reaching a need.
• Physiological needs.
• Love and affection needs.
• Fulfillment needs.
(1 Corinthians 3:6 LB) “My work was to plant the seed
in your hearts, and Apollos' work was to water it, but it was God, not we, who
made the garden grow in your hearts.”
2. Demonstrate Christ like behavior.
(Matthew 5:13-14 MSG) “Let me tell you why you are
here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this
earth... Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out
the God-colors in the world.”
(Matthew 5:16) In the same way, let your light
shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father
in heaven.
✓Make things better and
brighter for them.
✓Understand their world.
✓Show them unconditional
love.
(1 Corinthians 9:22 LB) “...Whatever a person is
like, I try to find common ground with him so that he will let me tell him
about Christ and let Christ save him.”
3. Our message must be kind and helpful.
(2 Timothy 2:23-25 NLT) Don’t get involved in
foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. The Lord’s servants must
not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to teach
effectively and be patient with difficult people. They should gently teach
those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and
they will believe the truth.
(1 Peter 3:15-16) But in your hearts revere Christ
as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give
the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your
good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
✓ Share the hope that we have.
✓Share my church.
✓ Share Christ.
