Who Do We Honor?

(Romans 12:10) Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

WHO DO WE HONOR?

(1 Peter 2:17) Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.

1. Honor others.

(Philippians 2:3-4) Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.

2. Honor authority.

(Romans 13:1-2) Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.

The authorities that exist have been established by God.

Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

 Government.
 Workplace/school.
 Family.
 Spiritual.

(1 Timothy 2:1-4) I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone--for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

3. Honor parents.

(Ephesians 6:2-3) "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--"that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

4. Honor age.

(Leviticus 19:32) Rise in the presence of the aged, show respect for the elderly and revere your God. I am the LORD.

(Job 12:12) Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?

5. Honor nature.

(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”

6. Honor God.

(Psalm 29:2) Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.

(Psalm 34:3 NKJV) Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt His name together. (Proverbs 3:9) Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops.

What is the Holy Spirit saying to me?
