If you find what you love to
do, you'll never have to work another day in your life.
Who we are is different from
what we do. God is more interested in who we are, and not what we're
doing. Who we are becoming will influence what we do.
Career comes from the word that
we get the word "racetrack" from. God, please put us in a lane
that we can run full speed.
A job is what you're paid
for. A calling is what you're made for. God wants you to discover
what your calling is.
The creation of work...
Genesis 2:8-9, 15 (NLT)
8 Then the Lord God planted a garden in
Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.
9 The Lord God made all sorts of trees
grow up from the ground—trees that were beautiful and that produced delicious
fruit. In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of
the knowledge of good and evil.
15 The Lord God placed the man in the Garden
of Eden to tend and watch over it.
God gave Adam a job before He
gave him a wife. If you can't take care of yourself, then you're not
ready for a wife.
Eden means delight and pleasure
which is what God wants for your job. It's not about time off, but time
on. God created work for people to enjoy. Doing something well brings
joy.
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (NLT)
10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those
unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
The curse of work after man sinned...
Genesis 3:17-19 (NLT)
17 And to the man he (God) said,
“Since you listened to your wife
and ate from the tree
whose fruit I commanded you not to eat,
the ground is cursed because of you.
All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.
18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you,
whose fruit I commanded you not to eat,
the ground is cursed because of you.
All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.
18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you,
though you will eat of its
grains.
19 By the sweat of your brow
will you have food to eat
until you return to the ground
from which you were made.
For you were made from dust,
and to dust you will return.”
19 By the sweat of your brow
will you have food to eat
until you return to the ground
from which you were made.
For you were made from dust,
and to dust you will return.”
The culmination of work...
Colossians 3:23,24 (NLT)
23 Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working
for the Lord rather than for people.
24 Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your
reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
We work as unto Jesus. We
might not love what we do, but we love who we do it for. Work is not a
necessary evil, but an opportunity to serve the Lord and others.
We're not just making a dollar,
but making a difference. We are here for a reason and a season.
Lord, if others are looking for you, may they find you in me.
Psalm 100:2 (NKJV)
2 Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Come before His presence with singing.
Quit cursing the darkness that
you're working in and shine the light. You be the change that you want others
to see.
Don't just make a dollar.
Make a difference in the lives of those around you. You can worship
God while you work.
Our assignments will change,
but our callings will not. Whatever assignment that I have now will get
me ready for what's next.
We are entitled for nothing, so
we can be grateful for everything. There are no great secrets in life
just great disciples.
If you want to lead at the
highest level, you must be willing to serve at the lowest level.
