When Jesus came to
earth, He did not come as God, but as a man.
Philippians
2:5-8 (ESV)
5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours
in Christ Jesus,
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did
not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7 but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being
born in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming
obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Therefore, Jesus
surrendered His deity as God to come to earth as a man. He
didn't bring His power, His knowledge (Matthew 24:36), and was limited into
being in one place at a time.
Jesus defeated Satan as a man who was fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit (Matthew 4:1-11).
Jesus defeated Satan as a man who was fully surrendered to the Holy Spirit (Matthew 4:1-11).
Peter said that Jesus did His miracles through the power of
the Holy Spirit.
Acts 10:38 (ESV)
38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy
Spirit and with power.
He went about doing good and healing all who
were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.
Jesus said that He cast out demons by the Holy Spirit.
Matthew 12:28 (ESV)
28 But if it is by the Spirit of God that I cast out
demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.
Jesus taught
that He could do nothing by Himself.
John 5:19 (ESV)
19 So Jesus said to them, “Truly,
truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but
only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the
Son does likewise.
John 17:5 (ESV)
5 And now, Father, glorify me in your own presence with
the glory that I had with you before the world existed.
When Jesus returned to heaven, His glory as God the Son returned.
Philippians 2:9-11 (ESV)
Therefore God has highly exalted him
and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in
heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the
glory of God the Father.
