The Answer is Right under your Nose

1. Words are containers of power.

Proverbs 18:21  (ESV)

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.

Romans 10:9-10 (ESV)

because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

We must get our words into alignment with God's Word.  We must say what God says and not what Satan says.  Our words must not undo what Jesus died to give us.

John 10:10  (ESV)

10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

Mark 11:22 (ESV)

22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.

People will disappoint you, but God never will.

Mark 11:23  (ESV)

23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.

The power and promises of God are available to you.   You are a whoever.

We are not to talk about our problems, but to our problems.  We are to talk to our problems because our problems are talking to us.

We are to cast our problems into the sea because the sea has the capacity to swallow it up as if it never existed.  God is like that sea.

Change your words because you words are changing you.

2. Words reveal your motives.

Matthew 12:34  (ESV)

34 For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

When we go to the Doctor, they look into our mouths to determine our health.  When we open up our mouths, it reveals our health.

We must surrender our hearts to get our mouths into alignment with God.

Ezekiel 36:26 (ESV)

26 And I (God) will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

The person who gossips to you will gossip about you.

If the other person is not a part of the problem or the solution, we must not share it.

Gossips are saying behind their back what they would never say to their face.

Flattery is saying something to their face that you would never say behind their back.

We must be especially careful what we say in times of testing.

Psalm 23:4  (ESV)
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

Your valley is not your finality.  What we say will determine how long we are there.  If we are speaking God's truth, we are not speaking the Devil's lies.

If there is a shadow,  the sun is shining somewhere.

"Negativity is the verbalization of inner defeat".

Brian Houston.

3. Words shape worlds.

James 3:3-5 (ESV)

If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.
Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things.
How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

Words are like a steering wheel.  It's all about direction.  They determine where you go.

If you don't like the direction of your life, you must change your words.  Pay attention to what you say.

Can you speak life if you are in an atmosphere of death?  Yes, you can!  Speak God's Word!

The greater you get behind.  The greater your comeback will be.  We already know the outcome.

Romans 8:31 (ESV)

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Transformation is on the tip of your tongue.

You speak over your life what God has already spoken.

When you begin to speak the Word of God, you will experience the power of God.

Psalm 34:1  (ESV)

I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
