James 5:16-18 (ESV)
16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for
one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous
person has great power as it is working.
17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he
prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six
months it did not rain on the earth.
18 Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth
bore its fruit.
Prayer is powerful like an earthquake.
When Earthquake power is released, it creates a break in the earth's
surface. Power must be released on the inside for it to show on the
outside.
Prayer causes a release of power like an
earthquake. For power to be released a shift must occur within
us. We must see God for all that He is, and get our minds off the problem
and onto Him.
With an earthquake, the power within must
breakthrough the surface. The contractions within create a tear. It
gets worse before it gets better. Something is about to break.
We don't have to tolerate what our prayers can
eliminate.
Elijah prayed and changed the weather. (1
Kings 17:1)
The church prayed for Peter and the prison doors
opened. (Acts 12)
Hezekiah prayed and he escaped certain
death. (2 Kings 20)
Esther prayed and a nation was saved.
(Esther 6-8)
Nothing makes hell more nervous than a person who
understands the power of prayer.
