Is God Sovereign?

Just because we have found God.  Doesn't mean that we shouldn't hunger for more. David had a hunger for more of God.

David looked for ways to praise the Lord which was an act of his will that flowed into his emotions.

David praised God because He is awesome.

Psalm 24:1 (ESV)
The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein,

We as Christians believe that Jesus is the center of the universe who holds it all together. The center of the universe is not you, but Him (Hebrews 1:3).

David said that a reason to praise God is because He is a sovereign who has an eternal plan for us which is His glory (Jude 1:25).

Psalm 103:19-22 (ESV)
19 The Lord has established his throne in the heavens,
and his kingdom rules over all.

Sovereignty means that God rules over that which He has created. This universe is not an accident.

Knowing God rules the universe is a cause for great comfort. He is also sovereign over human history, and over the demonic rebellion lead by Satan (Revelation 12:9).

God is awesome because of His permanence.   He will never ever leave us, nor will He ever forsake us (Hebrews 13:5).

Once Egypt ruled the earth.  Then, came Rome.  Now the USA is most powerful, but that will come and go.

God is permanent. God permanence speaks of His power.  He has all ability and authority. He is the All Mighty God (Psalm 91:1).

God is awesome because of His purpose. I may not always understand my path, but I do rejoice in His purpose.

Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God our Father (Philippians 2:10-11).

20 Bless the Lord, O you his angels,
you mighty ones who do his word,
obeying the voice of his word!

We expect the angels who live in his presence to worship Him, but don't we live in His presence also?

Our worship has emotion, but it is not emotion.  Worship is the expression of the mind, the heart, and the will because you believe what God has said about Himself in His Word the Bible.

Worship is how we obey, and He is worthy to be worshiped. Worship is not an one hour service.

You can't live a life of willful disobedience and claim to be a follower of Christ (1 John 2:29).

Obedience is an expression of our worship and not a strategy to save ourselves (John 4:24-25).

Everyone knows the area in which we struggle.  Maybe you struggle with giving.  When we get giving right, our treasure will be where our heart is (Matthew 6:21).  It impacts your entire Christian walk.

Maybe your area of weakness is your tongue.  Let's not worship and gossip with the same tongue.

Bless the Lord, all his hosts,
his ministers, who do his will!

It's not about service but includes service.  Once we realize who God is we naturally want to serve Him. It's not just about what you do on Sunday.

It's about serving God through serving others everyday of the week.  We don't work for our boss, but our work is an act of service for the living Christ.  Even if your boss is hard to get along with.

22 Bless the Lord, all his works,
in all places of his dominion.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Let us join with David, and praise the Lord. The best thing that we can do with our lives is to remember David's invitation to bless the Lord.

We are to tell Him that you are sovereign, and you are my king.  We abandon ourselves at His throne.

Obedience is doing what God says when God says it with a right heart attitude. It is reasonable to worship God.  Romans 12:1-2.
