Matthew 17:20 (ESV)
He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
To move a mountain, we have to have faith like a mustard seed, surely we've got that much faith.
I actually prayed for a mountain to be moved, and when it didn't moved. I thought that I did't have that much faith. I'd like to talk about that.
Jesus was probably looking at the man made mountain by King Herod's slaves. It's still near Jerusalem today. King Herod is buried there.
Man made stuff is pretty impressive, but it's nothing if you'll only have faith in God. Our faith is not in self but in Jesus. Your mountains will begin to move.
Let's talk about how faith in God can transform your family like faith in God moves mountains.
1. When you talk to your family, do you have a sweet spirit? Does you family have a tough time because of you? Satan will try to turn you against God because of your problems. You must honor God with a sweet spirit during your problems.
2. When your family sees you coming is there joy or sadness? When Jesus came home, did He bring joy or sadness? Isn't He our standard? People waited on a lake shore just to see Him. Plant a seed of joy in your family.
3. Do you think about your family, and what their dealing with? Do you remember what you dealt with at their age? Wisdom as parents remember what their kids are going through. Their issues to them are just as big as yours. Put yourself in other people's shoes.
4. Have you told your family that you are pleased with them? Jesus's words spoke hope into people (John 4). Lord, please help us find something positive to say to our family members. They need to hear words of affirmation. Tell them that you love them.
5. Are you so cold hearted that you refuse to listen to the advise of others? How do you react when others try to talk to you about your blind spots? Is your family afraid to bring up something to you because of the way you react? God will bring problems into your life because you are selfish and need to change.
6. Are you meeting the needs of those in your family? Do they know that they are most important to you? What is the stuff in your life that is most important to you? What do you think about the most?
