God is a title like emperor.
Knowing God by name get His attention.
In Bible times, the name of the person indicated his or her character.
The name that now gets God's attention is Jesus. (John 14:13-14)
Praying in the name of Jesus is not meant to just attach Jesus' name on the end of our prayers.
It means that we are to align our prayers with who He is.
If our prayers are in harmony with Jesus's character, plan, and heart, then God will do it.
The Old Testament origins for Jesus' name come from the name God gave to Moses, which is in Hebrew Yahweh or in English I AM.
God gave the name I AM to Moses when He delivered the Israelites from slavery.
The neat thing about the name I AM is it can be used in conjunction with whatever you need.
I AM is always present tense.
I AM is forever unchanging.
In John 8:59, Jesus told His people that He was I AM in human form. It almost got Him stoned.
Notice God's name is not I Give.
It's not about what He can give you, but He's all about a personal relationship with you.
In John 6:35 when the crowd was craving bread, He actually told them that they were craving Him. Remember when Jesus said I AM the bread.
Was Jesus really asking "why are your always seeking something from me when what you're really craving is me?"
The name of Jesus means I AM SAVIOR, which is taken from the Old Testament name Joshua.
You might remember that Joshua lead God's people into all of what God had promised to His people.
In John 5:39 Jesus said, you carefully study the scriptures trying to find life, but you won't come to me, so that you might actually have it.
