Why am I here?

We are created for good works.

Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Titus 2:7  (ESV)
7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity

Titus 3:14  (ESV)
14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful.

Titus 3:8 (ESV)
8 The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to insist on these things, so that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.

Any church that exists only for themselves doesn't know true Christianity.

Titus 1:16  (ESV)
16 They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. They are detestable, disobedient, unfit for any good work.

It's not just a money thing, but it might include your wallet.

1 Timothy 6:17-19  (ESV)
17 As for the rich in this present age, charge them not to be haughty, nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.

18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.

I want to send everyone out on a mission of good works.

1. Why should we do good?

Doing good is God's destiny for you.

It's not an event.

You can live out your destiny today.

It's all about taking advantage of your opportunities to do good words.

It's about being the hands and feet of Jesus.

Acts 10:38 (ESV)

38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.

You are to give samples of God's goodness in hopes that people will come back for more.

Psalm 34:8   (ESV)
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

2. Where should we do good works?

We should do good works wherever we go, and as we go like Peter and John.

Acts 3:1-2, 6-7  (ESV)
3 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

2 And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple.

6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!”

7 And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong.

Do you have arms?

Hug.

Do you have a face?

Smile.

Keep your eyes open to do good in little tasks.

Our problem is that we're living life too fast.

Hurry is the enemy of love.

1 Corinthians 10:24  (ESV)
24 Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.

 3. How do we do good?

However, the Spirit leads me.

Romans 8:14 (NLV)
14 All those who are led by the Holy Spirit are sons of God.

Everybody has a spiritual spot of emptiness.  We must find it, and fill it with Jesus.  We must be known for our compassion like Him.

Matthew 10:8 (MSG)
5-8 Jesus sent his twelve harvest hands out with this charge:
“Don’t begin by traveling to some far-off place to convert unbelievers.

And don’t try to be dramatic by tackling some public enemy.

Go to the lost, confused people right here in the neighborhood.

Tell them that the kingdom is here.

Bring health to the sick.

Raise the dead.

Touch the untouchables.

Kick out the demons.

You have been treated generously, so live generously.

This is our destiny.

This is our mission.

This is our purpose.

We must share God's love to a broken world.

James 4:17 (NKJV)
17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

This is deep teaching that isn't confusing.  It is deep because it is counter intuitive.

God wants heaven to invade earth with His goodness.

To do so, heaven would not even withhold Jesus or you.

In the  presence of His goodness, it  changes everything
