(Matthew 7:24 MSG) “These words I (Jesus) speak to you are
not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard
of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work
these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house
on solid rock.”
1. I must accept the Bible as the
final
authority of my life.
(1 Thessalonians 2:13) We also thank God continually because,
when you received the Word of God which you heard from us, you accepted
it, not as the word of men, but actually as it is, the Word of
God, which is at work in you who believe.
2. I must assimilate the Bible's ruths in my thoughts
and behavior.
By listening to God’s Word.
(Romans 10:17 NKJV) So then faith comes by
hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(Luke 8:18) “Therefore consider carefully how you
listen...”
By reading God’s Word.
(Matthew 4:4) Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man
shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of
God.’”
Don't just read the
Bible.
Let it read you.
1. Get a paper
Bible.
2. Set aside a time to read
it.
3. Takes notes.
4. Have a plan to remember what
you read to apply.
5. Treat the Bible with
the dignity it deserves as being God's Word.
We have the privilege of
thinking God's thoughts after Him when we read the Bible.
In centuries past only Kings,
Priests, and Scholars even had access to the Bible. Now we do. What a
honor!
By exploring God’s Word.
(Psalm 119:11) I have hidden Your word in my
heart, that I might not sin against You.
3. I must apply it's principles.
(James 1:22) Do not merely listen to the word, and
so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
All scripture is from the New
International Version unless otherwise noted.
