The Bible is Alive

(John 1:1-5)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

(John is echoing Moses in Genesis 1:1, and placing Jesus with God the Father in creation).

Genesis 1:1-2 (NLT)
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.

John 1:14A (NLT)
So the Word became human and made his home among us.

The Bible is Alive - They have power in them!

(John 6:63) “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.”

The Words of God are powerful.

(Hebrews 4:12) For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Faith activates the Word.

(Hebrews 4:2) For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.

  Revelation activates faith.

(Luke 1:34-38) “How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?” The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God... For no word from God will ever fail.” “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

There are two Greek words that the New Testament was originally written in for the word of God in the Bible.  Logos means written.  Rhema means revealed.

Mediation activates revelation.

(Joshua 1:7-8) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

We visualize God's Word in our minds, and see ourselves doing what God says to do. Our strategy is to do it.  That way the word can become flesh through our actions too.
