How the Bible is Written

Matthew 7:24 (NKJV)

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

1. The word "Bible" means book. 

2. It was written over a period of 1600 years in over a dozen countries on 3 continents by people from all walks of life in 3 languages.

3.  There were about 40 writers, but only one author who is God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17  (NKJV)

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 

17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Overview of the Old Testament

Law - 5 books - Genesis through Deuteronomy which was written by Moses.

Historical - 12 books - Joshua through Esther.

Poetical - 5 books - Job through Song of Solomon.

Prophetical - 17 books

5 Major Prophets - Isaiah through Daniel.

12 Minor Prophets - Hosea through Malachi

Then, there were 400 silent years where no revelation was written. 

Overview of the New Testament

Gospels - 4 books -  Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John

Epistles - 21 books - Romans through Jude

Revelation - prophecy of the last days and eternity.
