Why the Bible Can Be Trusted

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NKJV)
16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Matthew 24:35 (NKJV)
35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My (Jesus's) words will by no means pass away.

1.  The Bible is historically accurate.

Psalm 33:4 (NKJV)
For the word of the Lord is right,
And all His work is done in truth.

The Bible was eyewitness accounts recorded and copied with extreme care.

Archaeological finds confirm the accuracy of the Bible.

2. The Bible is scientifically accurate.

Psalm 148:5-6 (NLT)
Let every created thing give praise to the Lord,
for he issued his command, and they came into being.
He set them in place forever and ever.
His decree will never be revoked.

Isaiah 40:22  (NLT)
22 God sits above the circle (not flat)  of the earth.
The people below seem like grasshoppers to him!
He spreads out the heavens like a curtain
and makes his tent from them.

Job 26:7 (NLT)
God stretches the northern sky over empty space
and hangs the earth on nothing.

Jeremiah 33:22 (NLT)
22 And as the stars of the sky cannot be counted...

Leviticus 17:11  (NLT)
11 for the life of the body is in its blood.

Leviticus 13:4  (NLT)
4 the priest will quarantine the person for seven days.

Psalm 12:6  (NLT)
The Lord’s promises are pure,
like silver refined in a furnace,
    purified seven times over.

If you believe what you like in the Bible, but don't believe what you don't like, its not the Bible that you trust but yourself.

3. The Bible is prophetically accurate.

One person fulfilling 8 prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 17 power.

One person fulling 16 prophecies is 1 in 10 to the 45 power.

There are over a 1000 prophecies in the Bible.

2 Peter 1:21  (NKJV)
21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 26:56  (NLT)
But this is all happening to fulfill the words of the prophets as recorded in the Scriptures.”

Revelation 22:6 (NKJV)
Then he said to me, “These words are faithful and true.” And the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His angel to show His servants the things which must shortly take place.

4. The Bible is thematically unified.

It was written in 3 languages by 40 authors over 1600 years.

Luke 24:27  (NKJV)
And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He (Jesus) expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

5. The Bible was trusted by Jesus.

Matthew 5:18  (NKJV)
18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

6.  The Bible has survived countless attacks.

1 Peter 1:24-25 (NKJV)
because
“All flesh is as grass,
And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass.
The grass withers,
And its flower falls away,

But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

7. The Bible has transforming power.  It will change your life if you'll let it.

John 8:31-32 (NKJV)
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

What is going to be the final authority in our lives?  Is it going to be the Word or the World?
