Silent Night

(Luke 2:13-14) Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

(John 14:27 LB) “I (Jesus) am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart! And the peace I give isnʼt fragile like the peace the world gives. So donʼt be troubled or afraid.” 

(Matthew 5:9) “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.”


Sar Shalom 

(Isaiah 9:6) “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” 

 Sar; the one in charge, Lord, chief, general. 

 Shalom; rest, tranquility, wholeness, completeness, contentment. 


(John 14:27) “Peace I (Jesus) leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”


(Romans 5:1) “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”


(Psalm 4:8) “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.” 


(Psalm 29:11) “The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.”


Prince of Peace


(Ephesians 2:13-14) “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For (Christ) himself is our peace…” 


1. Get under the Lordship of Jesus. (Acts 10:36) “You know the message God sent to the people of Israel, telling the good news of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.”


(Isaiah 32:17-18) “The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever. My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, in secure homes, in undisturbed places of rest.”


2. Bring Jesus into every situation. (2 Thessalonians 3:16) “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”


(Philippians 4:8-9) “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-- think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me--put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”


3. Keep your mind on Jesus. 


(Isaiah 26:3 NKJV) “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” 

(Romans 15:13) “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
