Behind the Mask
(Luke 21:34) “Be careful, or your hearts will be
weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that
day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.”
When life becomes chaotic, we become…
Scattered.
Reactive.
Frantic.
Stressed.
(Job 9:25 NCV) “My days go by faster than a
runner; they fly away without my seeing any joy.”
(Proverbs 19:2 GW) “…a person in a hurry makes
mistakes.”
(Exodus 33:13-16) The LORD replied, “My Presence
will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
(Matthew 11:28-29) “Come to me, all you who are
weary and burdened, and I will give you rest… and you will find rest for your
souls.”
Unmasking our Chaotic Lives
(Psalm 90:12 LB) “Teach us to number our days and
recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should.”
1. Identify your unique values.
(Jeremiah 6:16) This is what the LORD says: “Stand
at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way
is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”
2. Identify your single most important
objective.
(Proverbs 17:24 GN) “An intelligent person aims at
wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions.”
(Philippians 3:13) “Brothers, I do not consider
myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do…”
3. Check your progress regularly.
(Proverbs 21:5 Message) “Careful planning puts you
ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.”
(Proverbs 13:17 LB) “…Reliable communication
permits progress.”
The Key to It All
(Ephesians 5:15-17) “Be very careful, then, how
you live--not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity,
because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the
Lord's will is.”
The secret to living a life of intentionality
and purpose is to focus on the eternal.
