(2 Corinthians 13:14 Message) “The
amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the
intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.”
Three Gifts
Eternal life.
(Romans 6:23) “For the wages of sin is death, but
the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
The Holy Spirit.
(Acts 1:4-5) “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for
the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John
baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy
Spirit.”
Spiritual gifts.
(Romans 12:6) “We have different gifts, according
to the grace given us.” (1 Corinthians 12:1) “Now about spiritual gifts,
brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.”
(1 Corinthians 12:11) “All these are the work of
one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.”
(1 Corinthians 14:23) “So if the whole church
comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand
or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?”
Gifts from a Friend
(1 Corinthians 14:1) “Follow the way of love and
eagerly desire spiritual gifts…”
1. His gifts are unique.
(1 Corinthians 12:4-6) “There are different kinds
of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the
same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of
them in all men.”
2. His gifts are needed.
(1 Corinthians 12:27 NLT) “Now all of you together
are Christʼs body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.”
3. His gifts are fulfilling.
(John 15:8, 11) “This is to my Fatherʼs glory,
that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. I have told
you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.”
4. His gifts touch other peopleʼs lives.
(1 Peter 4:10 NLT) “God has given gifts to each of
you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's
generosity can flow through you.”
Definition of a spiritual gift: A spiritual gift
is a special supernatural ability that God gives to each of His children, so
that together they can advance His purposes in this world.
