Who is He?
(Acts 19:1-2) While Apollos was at Corinth, Paul
took the road through the interior and arrived at Ephesus. There he found some
disciples and asked them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?”
They answered, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.”
He is a Him.
(John 14:17) “…the Spirit of truth. The world
cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him,
for he lives with you and will be in you.”
He is not weird.
(John 16:7) “But I tell you the truth: It is for
your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come
to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.”
He is God.
(Acts 5:3-4) Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it
that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit?
...You have not lied to men but to God.”
(Matthew 28:19) “Therefore go and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit.”
He is my best friend.
(2 Corinthians 13:14 Message) “The amazing grace
of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate
friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.”
My Best Friend
1. He will be with me.
(John 14:16) “And I will ask the Father, and he
will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.”
2. He will reveal the Bible to me.
(John 14:26) “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit,
whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind
you of everything I have said to you.”
3. He will help me share Jesus with others.
(John 15:26) “When the Counselor comes, whom I will
send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father,
he will testify about me.” (Acts 1:8) “But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
4. He will convict me of sin.
(John 16:8) “When he comes, he will convict the
world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.” (Isaiah 30:21)
Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice
behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
5. He will guide me through life.
(John 16:13) “But when he, the Spirit of truth,
comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will
speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
